Creating Mobility & Independence for People with Disabilities

Welcome to Capital City AMBUCS - The Austin chapter (Capital City Ambucs) of National America

The Austin chapter, Capital City AMBUCS, of National American Business Clubs AMBUCS TM, Inc. is a 501(c)(3)charitable organization dedicated to creating mobility and independence for people with disabilities. Members accomplish the organization’s mission by performing community service and providing AmTryke therapeutic tricycles to children and adults with disabilities.

Capital City AMBUCS emerged from a four hour meeting in February 2008 between Cliff Bauerle (our SPARKPLUG), Greg Rusk (the tool man), Laurie Albert and Margaret Garwood, two local physical therapists. The passion of four people started the wheels rolling. To date, we have given away 375 amtrykes to children and adults in Austin area.

Currently, there are approximately 6,000 AMBUCS members in over 160 chapters in 35 states. Until the charter of the Capital City AMBUCS on April 5, 2008, there was not a local chapter in all of southern Texas.
